Students who received grants from the Davis Botanical Society are presenting their summer research. Mickie Tang, Sabine Dritz, and David C. Mitchell are Ph.D. students in the ecology graduate group and will be talking about their summer field season. Pizza will be provided.

Their topics include:

  • "Sisterhood of the traveling plant: How surface types affect urban tree water use," by Mickie Tang.
  • "How do bumblebee foraging rates respond to variation in flower density in a wild sub-alpine meadow?" by Sabine Dritz.
  • "Effects of soil amendments and inoculum on growth and mycorrhizal colonization of two native riparian woody species," by David C. Mitchell.

Student grants are an important part of the DBS program, and these talks are a wonderful opportunity to hear from and encourage the students we have funded. We hope you will come and enjoy fascinating botany, good company and refreshments.
