As part of the Manetti Shrem Art Spark event, come create your own aquatic-themed prints with the Algae Herbarium staff! Herbarium staff will demonstrate how to preserve seaweed specimens just like the researchers at the Bodega Bay Marine Lab. Folks from the Museum of Wildlife and Fish Biology will also display their collection of fish specimens. In addition, you can create your own art using seaweed and fish-themed stamps in the activity room!
Along with preserving algae, the Center for Plant Diversity maintains a variety of pressed flowering plants, mosses, lichens, and more. By maintaining and digitizing these specimens, the Herbarium helps to make the crucial data these plants hold accessible to students and researchers alike.
