Celebration of life set for Ken Tate at UC Davis

A celebration of life for Kenneth W. Tate will be held from 4:30-6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Walter A. Buehler Alumni Center on the UC Davis campus.

Tate was a professor in the UC Davis Department of Plant Sciences and a UC Cooperative Extension specialist. He died unexpectedly on June 5, 2025, at the age of 58, while traveling in Oregon.

Those wishing to attend the celebration are asked to RSVP here.

Tate was a leading figure in the advancement of California’s rangeland science and management. His work centered on ecosystem functions and health, including grazing, drought, water safety, management and policy. He was the inaugural Russell L. Rustici Endowed Chair in Rangeland Watershed Science.
