Alessandro Ossola is part of a nationwide team of scientists studying trees in the Altadena and Palisades areas, trying to understand mortality, recovery and lessons for rebuilding after future wildfires.
Alessandro Ossola, UC Davis Assistant Professor, received the 2022 New Innovator in Food & Agriculture Research Award for his project on using big data to develop climate models for urban tree crops, aiding climate-resilient food systems.
UC Davis is testing “climate-ready trees” to ensure future shade as weather extremes grow. Inspired by Alison Berry’s research, students and staff are planting drought-tolerant species across campus to create a resilient urban forest.
